This page is for my stream mods. I’m making it public to be transparent about the rules and policies the govern my channel.
Hello Moderators!
I choose my moderators based on being a part of my community for a long time, and how well your ideals and personalities mesh with mine. You are as much a part of the stream experience as I am while on camera. I love you all like family (dysfunctional as we are…), and I can’t thank you enough for helping me keep my channel clean and fun.
I rely on my mods to help make the stream run as well as it can, and creating a friendly and fun social experience for all involved. Modding is NOT a job. It should be fun and more importantly, your real life should always come first. Never feel that you should have to mod.
Chat Moderators have a few key roles in a stream. They are the ideal examples of viewership and community both in and out of the stream. Mods are encouraged to interact and chat with viewers and Monkey alike. Keep the conversation moving and greet people as they come in. This could sometimes be your most important job! They are also the enforcers of stream rules and policy. I ask that you get familiar with the rules of the stream as well as moderation mechanics for Mixer.
How to get to the MixPlay Mod Scene
This seems obvious, but you hit the “Moderators” button from the main scene.
BUT you can also click the “Instructions” button on the Banana Scene!(It’s like a secret button to get you to the Mod scene faster! OooooOOOooo!)
Most of the buttons and text fields are pretty self explanatory, but there are two that might require a little more explanation! The third text box is a way to set the “Project” that we’re working on for today. The command “!project” will send “Today I’m working on [whatever you write in the text box].” We can write whatever project we’re working on for the day in there, and if it’s based off someone else’s design we can throw a link in there to their video or channel as well!
The Offline button switches the MixPlay to the offline scene. Don’t worry, it’s disabled when we’re live (theoretically). Please push that if you ever see my regular MixPlay buttons visible when I’m offline cause I’m a derp!

Rules and Policy Enforcement
These rules are to be followed by all viewers and mods alike.
- Always be kind and welcoming.
- AGE: Do not discuss your age in chat. Nothing good ever comes from it.
- No drama, no hate: If people have an issue with one another they should take it up in private, not in public chat.
- Blacklisted Topics: No racism, sexism, politics, religion, or targeted harassment. (Friendly trolling IS allowed by regulars who are familiar with each other, but if someone seems offended, you can talk to Monkey.
- Self-Promotion: I allow a little more self-promotion than most. It should get deleted, but don’t timeout or ban on the first offense. We’ll still try to turn them around to become an active member of the community!
- Spam: Do not spam or abuse capitals (Spam is defined in our channel as 3 or more line entries that are the same, or quoting song lyrics across more than 3 entries without cause.) The exception is when there are “dance parties”, raids, or hype moments. Excessive caps use can also be considered spam.
- Do NOT feed the trolls: (Don’t play into trolling behavior or fight fire with fire, respond with kindness and quiet repercussions. Often a direct, kind whisper can put out most fires.)
- NOTE: If I am messing/chatting with an obvious troll, and I say to get rid of them, have at it. However, until I make the call to ban them it is important that chat remain respectful, especially moderators. The most important rule is “Don’t Feed The Trolls” – I am the only one allowed to break that rule.
- English: We speak English as the primary language in the chat, so we ask that our viewers do their best to use that in chat to make modding a bit easier. (This applies to modding as well. You can whisper them in their language to ask them to speak English but in open chat please use English.)
Enforcement
We use a 3-strike system to enforce the rules.
- Strike One: Delete the offending comment and warn the violator with a whispered warning. Let them know what they did wrong, and ask them politely to refrain. Then let the other mods know that you whispered by using the “mod chat” (Add psst to some part of your message and it will get auto-deleted and Monkey and the mods will be able to read it)
- Strike Two: Timeout with a fair duration of time to match the violation. (5-15 minutes does the job.) Use your best judgement to have the time match the crime. Anything longer than 15 minutes should be logged in #mod-log so the other mods can coordinate its enforcement. And announce in public chat why you timed them out as a warning to others not to emulate the actions of the offending viewer.
- Strike Three: 12h timeout! Please use this as a last resort unless otherwise specified by Monkey.
TIMEOUT vs BAN
I don’t want anyone banned accept for straight up racist remarks! I’d rather see if I can turn them into active viewers first.
- If there is a clear violation of Mixer User Conduct, please use the REPORT tool in chat when giving out a ban. This allows Mixer to enforce its community rules and keeps the platform awesome. Log the ban in #mod-log.
- Bans are usually permanent, but can be reversed. If you are unsure with a specific case, please ask Monkey for help. It is also advised to screenshot the offense and post it to the #mod-log channel tagged with “Banned” or “Banned and reported” along with the users name in case we ever need to revisit the reason for the ban.
And THANK YOU!
More than anything, you’re the ones that help make my streams awesome and I REALLY appreciate you!
Please react to the pinned message in #monkeymodtalk with your favorite heart emote to let me know you read this! 😉
